Driver’s rampage leaves 1 stabbed, 2 hit by own cars on LBJ Freeway, Dallas police say

A driver reportedly stabbed another driver and hit two people with their own cars following an accident on Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway on Aug. 6 , police said.
A Texas Department of Transportation employee was among the injured. All three victims had intervened to help, according to a statement by police. Interstate 635 was shut down for several hours after the incident, a TxDOT spokesperson said.
Around 7 a.m. Aug. 6, Dallas police responded to an accident involving multiple cars at westbound LBJ Freeway and Forest Lane in northeast Dallas, according to the statement.
Early investigations by police found that a driver, later identified as Angel Zamora Moreno, 26, allegedly started fighting another driver after they were involved in an accident. Police said a third driver tried to stop the fight but was stabbed by Moreno.

A TxDOT employee saw the accident and stopped to help, according to the statement. Moreno allegedly got in the TxDOT car, hit the employee and crashed, police said.
Another driver saw the TxDOT employee get hit and stopped to help, according to the statement. Moreno then allegedly entered that driver’s car and hit that driver.
When Moreno exited the car, several bystanders held him down until officers arrived, according to the statement. He was arrested and faces charges of seven counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and one count of criminal mischief, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported Moreno and the three victims to a hospital, according to the statement.
The driver who was stabbed was in critical condition but was released from the hospital on Aug. 11, according to police. The other two drivers were stable following the incident, police said Aug. 6.
A spokesperson for TxDOT confirmed Aug. 6 that an employee and his car were involved in an incident on LBJ Freeway, but could not provide more information due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
